Kindergarten Program

Discovery and Learning

Kindergarten is a time of rapid development and growth in the lives of our children. Our experienced staff is dedicated to creating a warm and nurturing environment that will foster each child’s growth and development while supporting their natural curiosity about learning.

In order to strengthen their newly learned skills, our program includes both solo and group activities along with a variety of educational activities specially designed to help your child develop their social, emotional and intellectual skills. With opportunities to explore reading, writing, mathematics, science and technology, social studies and the arts, a strong foundation is created.

All kindergarten students are involved in a variety of school events and field trips which take place during each month of the school year. These events give our students the ability to develop a keen understanding of the world around us and contribute to a positive and stimulating learning environment.

What makes our Kindergarten Program unique?

  • Class sizes of no more than 12 students

  • Stimulating daily schedule

  • Experienced and professional staff

  • Connection to school and school peers

  • Exceptional academic and social foundation

  • Home-school partnership established early and strengthened

Casa Program

(Jk/SK)

Practical Life: Children will work with materials common to everyday life to help enhance independence and fine motor development.  These skills include cleaning, caring for the environment and care of self.

Sensorial: The Sensorial materials help a child develop and refine the five senses.  The materials often work at isolating one sense, leading the child to make classifications of the environment.

Math: The math materials build upon the child experiences in the Sensorial environment.  Math is presented with concrete, scientifically developed didactic materials.  The child experiences the concept of order, sequence, measurement, calculations and exactness.  As the child advances in understanding, the material transitions from concrete to abstract thought.

Language:  Like math, the language materials are first concrete and gradually advance toward the abstract.  letters are first explored by touch and introduced as sounds to help with phonetic word building.  When the alphabet is absorbed, words are built with a moveable alphabet.  Once a child is reading, the functions of language are introduced.

Culture:   The culture environment is overflowing with interesting subjects: Zoology, Botany, Geography, History, Science, Art and Music.

Upper Elementary Grades 4 to 8

The Elementary Program continues on the same vein as the Casa environment.  The class is in a state of preparedness, ready for our students to unleash their interests.  There is a long, uninterrupted work cycle where the students may pursue their own among a diverse set of Montessori materials.  The program will encourage self-motivation and cultural/social awareness.  Our elementary students will bask in freedom of creativity, utilizing their imagination daily.

Grades 9-12

We aim to provide a strong foundation that enables high school students to succeed in university. We understand that students have varying interests and academic abilities, therefore, we aim to tailor their educational program to match their interests and educational needs. This allows our high school students to enrol in courses that are compatible with their post-high school and career goals, enabling them to pursue their studies with strong conviction and perform well academically.

Elementary  Program

Grades 1 - 8

From as early on as grade one, students are assigned a variety of assignments including projects, book reports, tests, presentations and other forms of evaluations in order to prepare them for the next years grade. Besides using these assignments to evaluate students’ understanding, they also build confidence and assurance in the continual development of these young minds.

An important part of our curriculum is the advancement of communication skills and especially on structured writing and public speaking. In a variety of forums, students are given the chance to exercise and progress their ability to communicate.

In the latter years of this stage, a more structured and disciplined environment is established. Students begin to refine and improve upon the skills they have developed and built upon prior knowledge. Emphasis is placed upon creative approaches to subject matter and presenting a challenging curriculum for these enthusiastic young minds.

Our curriculum for grades 7 and 8 starts to introduce students to the subjects they will experience in high school.  Emphasis is placed on experiencing many different aspects of the Canadian curriculum in a fresh dynamic way so that students begin to develop passion in certain fields.  With diversity and a well-rounded program, the students can draw on many different experiences and skills to succeed in whatever future path they choose.  By the time they are ready for High School, we will have cultivated a love of learning in addition to a wide palate of skills which the students will continue to draw upon in years ahead.

When we graduate students, they enter high school as desired candidates which are assured of future success.  Our students continually exemplify our commitment to growth, and validate our school as truly having "excellence in learning".
